There is a thriving volunteer network of youth organizations in Cape Breton including the Boy and Girl Scouts of Canada, Red Cross programs, and organized sports activities, both summer and winter (ie. Minor Hockey). A wide range of recreation programs including craft, music, and leisure courses are offered by the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, and many other private sector entities.
