The focus of this event seemed to center on one objective --- How To Make Cape Breton Work!..............I left the summit feeling positive about the economic future of Cape Breton.....the quality of ideas generated by fellow Cape Bretoners led one to believe that perhaps these people could help solve our biggest problem --- unemployment!

Businesses, agencies and institutions must have a mission and strategic business and action plans to survive the 'New Economy.'.....Cape Breton County Economic Development Authority is on course. Now is the time to lift the plan from the page and execute the play.

The economic development efforts of all levels of government must be brought into harmony within the industrial region. The Strategic Economic Action Plan unveiled just a year ago provides the framework. The basic infrastructure of the community must be maintained and enhanced.......When Cape Bretoners take inventory, they find they have the key attributes that the experts say will be needed to prosper in tomorrow's world.
